Get in the Zone:

Skills for Regulating Emotions at Home

Lifework's new group, Get in the Zone: Skills for Regulating Emotions at Home, helps pre-teens (ages 9 to 13) and teens (ages 14 to 18) learn about their emotions and cope with recent changes to their lives. This class combines the concepts of "zones of regulation" with coping strategies from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

The COVID-19 pandemic has been associated with mental health challenges, such as an increase in symptoms of depression, stress, and anxiety. This class can be beneficial to those waiting for mental health services, or those who would like skills to help manage their emotions during such a difficult time.

The zones of regulation are used widely in many school settings. One goal of these classes is to create and promote a common language about emotions between the school and home settings, creating more collaboration between the two environments. Teens and their parents will learn skills to help with decreasing their anxiety, reducing impulsive behaviors, finding connection and regulating high emotions.

The one-hour class will be meeting online for six weeks.
