I believe emotions are one of the most misunderstood parts of the human experience. We often do not know what to do with our own emotions or those of others. This is especially difficult if you experience your emotions more intensely than most. You probably have not been taught how to bear pain effectively so that it will pass. Most of us never learned how to listen our emotions; rather, we learned to act out or stifle them. I strive to impart skills that are useful to each client the moment they leave my office. I work hard to help you learn and practice the skills you need to experience a more fulfilling a life worth living.
I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Washington University in St. Louis and I have my LCSW. I have been in the mental health field for 23 years and counting. I am nationally certified by The Linehan Board in Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I also have my Core DBT certification through the State of Missouri. I have been providing the comprehensive model of DBT since 2008. I also offer trainings for new clinicians learning DBT and conduct workshops for various other professionals in the helping professions including school counselors, nurses, other therapists. I co-founded LifeWork, LLC in 2010 to make DBT more accessible to those in the private sector.
I have experience working with adolescents, adults, seniors, and those with developmental disabilities. Currently, I work with adults and adolescents primarily within a DBT framework.
In my free time I enjoy fly fishing, playing guitar, spending time with my family, reading and playing video games; not necessarily in that order.
I accept the following insurances: Anthem BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, Medicare, United. My out of pocket rate is $150/session.
